Beirut, Lebanon

The site is located in the downtown area, partially seated on the Solidere District and partially on the Beirut City district. The urban constraints imposed by both districts, define the project lines and generate its massing: a 24M height podium and double towers. The Podium is fragmented to allow light and sun to penetrate into middle of the lot, creating a small sunny Piazza at the ground floor level, open to the city. Generously planted, the podium’s roof will host a suspended garden, recalling "the Babylonian garden”. Above the podium, double towers emerge and are articulated with the panoramic lifts landing - a transparent slot separating the two masses. Stone, glass, steel, fabric and greenery will compose simply and generate transparency, lightness and luminosity.
